As a continuation of last week’s post, in which we listed some great places in Western Canada to visit when considering a move, this week we’ll be looking at the best attractions to visit in Eastern Canada. Moving across a country the size of Canada is a difficult prospect, not only are you likely to be unfamiliar with many aspects of life on the other side of the country, you just might not be sure that your new home is the place for you. It’s always a good idea to visit the region in which you will be residing and investigate its top attractions; this will inform you of all aspects of the new destination from the lifestyle to the specific culture to the type of weather you can expect.
- Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls is a natural wonder of the world and one of Canada’s most beautiful natural attractions. The massive waterfall is located in Niagara, just an hours drive from Toronto. There are multiple ways to see the falls as well as numerous other attractions in Niagara for tourists. This one is a must see for anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to indulge in one Eastern Canada’s many natural attractions.
- Toronto
Whilst there are multiple other cities on the East side of Canada, which are bursting with culture (see Montreal and Ottawa), Toronto is undoubtedly Canada’s metropolis, the sites and attractions of this big city are unparalleled. Take a trip to the top of the iconic CN Tower, catch a Blue Jays or Maple Leafs game in the Summer or check out the Royal Ontario Museum, all of these fantastic attractions are just some of the things that draw people to Toronto. If you want to see the biggest that Canada has to offer, a city on a world-class scale, then Toronto is a must.
- Montreal
Buzzing with multiculturalism and atmosphere, Montreal is one Canada’s greatest cities, not only does it have an incredible amount unique 17th century architecture (which blends amazingly with the city’s more modern buildings), but there is an amazing mix of English and French to be heard all throughout this unique city. Attractions in Montreal range from beautiful museums to a wide selection of authentic French cuisine. Moreover, there are options for people of all ages, from world class shopping to vibrant nightlife to a number of outdoor attractions.
- Parliament Hill, Ottawa
Located on the banks of the Ottawa River in downtown Ottawa, Parliament Hill stands as the home of Canada’s Parliament building and is one of Canada’s most popular tourist attractions. Free, guided tours are available daily in both English and French where you can see some diverse Gothic architecture, the daily changing of the guard in the summertime and the spectacle of Christmas lights during the holiday season. Visiting Parliament Hill is a fantastic way to learn a little more about Canada’s government and history, a must-see destination for those who haven’t visited Ottawa before.
The Eastern side of Canada offers so many attractions that it’s hard not to fall in love with the region. The culture, diversity and welcoming nature of Canada is world renown, and you’ll find out why in these cities and attractions.
